'Divinely Awake'

- A poem by Marc J. Francis

City At Night

Is life,

is life,

is life,

about being manufactured into a robot,

Shifted, Shuffled, Placed and Packaged

along production lines,

that twist one’s sacred soul,

whilst the light of the human living,

becomes

Extinguished,

by the darkest void of a

Deep, Black, Lonely

Hole.

How are we supposed to know,

when the conformed signs of society

keep us,

on the concrete and carbon monoxide

main roads,

which take us,

to places

that we,

the People,

do not really want to go.

No wonder we find it difficult

to know what to do,

when this complex world,

is controlled,

by a powerful,

Elite few.

Could the answer lie

in the depths of life’s struggle,

where the painful decisions

that we should make, will

Empower us, to

Keep aware, and

Divinely

Awake?
